How to Weld Train Railroad Track Rails – A Process called Thermite Welding

We thought this video done up by the history channel was pretty interesting and informative so we wanted to share. In order to weld railroad track rails, they use a process called Thermite Welding. It is an aluminum based powder that is melted to a molten state, poured into a form mold between the tracks to be joined, and then cleaned up. Not much to it and the process takes about 30 seconds. Beats stick welding those rails together that’s for sure! As always, we hope you enjoy!
